Are you drowning in GRIB files and model options?
Over the past year, marine weather forecasting has experienced a seismic shift. Between the rapid rise of public and private AI-driven forecasting tools and major updates to traditional global models like the GFS and ECMWF, sailors have more data at their fingertips than ever before.
But more data doesn't always mean better decisions. Often, it just means more confusion.
If you are struggling to figure out which models to trust, when to use them, and how to make sense of conflicting forecasts, you are not alone. Weather Models Masterclass: Navigating Today's Data Storm is designed to cut through the fog.
Building on the foundations of Class 7 and Weather Forecasting & AI, this advanced masterclass will help you decode the modern weather landscape so you can choose the best tools for your next race, passage, or camping trip!
What You Will Learn:
- The Current Landscape (circa Spring 2026): MWU's wx guru, Chris Bedford presents a comprehensive and clear breakdown of today's offerings: the "traditional" models, the new AI players, and private-sector offerings.
- Model Selection: Chris explains best practices that he uses to incorporate these new models into his workflow - including how to choose the right models to consider based on your location, time horizon, and needs.
- Signal vs. Noise: Tips on how to move forward when the models disagree and how to find and identify the most trustworthy data.
- Forecasting and Tactical Application: How to confidently integrate these new tools into your own forecasting and weather routing to gain a competitive edge.
Stop getting lost in the data storm. Learn how to navigate this new era of weather models!
